The German carmaker Opel, an integral member of the General Motors Corporation, announced to coincide with Britain joining the UK H2 Mobility project, its intention to start selling hydrogen-powered vehicles from 2016.
To our knowledge, the UK H2 Mobility initiative in which participating Opel was founded with the aim of promoting the production and use of hydrogen vehicles in the UK, thereby reducing CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. Through this project, which involved the British government and thirteen representatives from industry, aims at ensuring that by 2014 begin to market these vehicles in the United Kingdom.
And is that the German company spent more than a decade researching the technology of hydrogen fuel cells in order to develop a new type of vehicles that combine the advantages of electric refueling speed and autonomy of the models traditional.
At present, Opel is already beginning to take its first steps in this type of mobility and already has 30 units of hydrogen cars in Europe. In fact in the last three years, over one hundred fuel cell vehicles have traveled about three million miles in testing.
