Vehicle Tracking Systems

Datamonitor concluded their research regarding operational costs within fleet companies. They found that more businesses in Europe and the UK are seeking fuel cards to help limit their operational costs. The analysis showed the 2009 market for fuel cards was around 72 billion Euros in value. The UK and Sweden are the top two countries that seem to consistently use these cards.

The study also expects that around 987 million litres more of fuel will be purchased with the use of fuel cards. This is not the only area growing though in both the UK and Europe.

Vehicle tracking systems are being updated all the time in order to save on fuel too. With a better fleet tracking device many companies are finding they use less fuel. This is due to better routes, driver behaviour, and a reduction in excessive idling. In addition to these benefits, companies have found with better maintenance they are able to save on fuel. If a vehicle is older it could use more fuel. Thus, for the older vehicles fleets are beginning to replace them for more fuel economy. Companies that can go green with vehicles are beginning to do so.
